The Choose Health Challenge Sponsored By BistroMD
/If you know me well, you know that there are times that I am not the healthiest person. I have my moments when I drink like a fish and I believe that nachos and brownies don’t always count towards your calorie intake. I am also famous for eating fruity candy so I can get my fruit in my daily diet.
In all seriousness, I am well aware that this stuff isn’t all that great for you. And, as a person who has done the whole weight loss thing, I understand the importance of trying to be fairly healthy. One of the reasons that I was excited to move to NYC was because I had a plan to have a little healthier and more active lifestyle. That’s the great thing about moving to a new city -- it’s easy to be active since you have so much exploring to do.
So, when I was asked to join the campaign for BistroMD, I eagerly accepted because a) I like a challenge and b) it’s totally in line with a lot of my personal goals.
BistroMD delivers meals for a lighter, healthier you. Every meal is hand-prepared by our chefs and provides the proper scientific blend of lean adequate protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fat ratios to support healthy weight loss. BistroMD uses quality, natural ingredients without hormones, added fillers and unnecessary additives or preservatives. This means no MSG, no Trans Fats, just delicious meals that are good for you.
Healthy choices can really be simple. And, no, I am not talking about giving up everything you love and trading it in for a no fat diet with a totally active lifestyle. We are human here after all.
What I am talking about are simple choices that can lead you to live a healthier lifestyle. For example. A couple of weeks ago, I needed to walk to the post office. I could either walk the 10 blocks (give or take) or I could take the subway and then walk two blocks. I chose to walk. Not only was it the better choice economically (the subway isn’t free), but it took me around the same amount of time. Now, I don’t even think about taking the subway to the post office. And, when I need to go places that are about the same distance I walk there too. Who knew that one little thing could add a few extra blocks of activity to my routine.
I’ve also decided to challenge myself to eating breakfast. I know it sounds weird but I truly believe it’s the most important meal of the day. I have this habit of waking up and then I start working. Before I know it, two or three hours have flown by and I figure, why bother, I’ve had coffee and it’s almost lunch time. Well, for the past couple of days, I have made myself make breakfast before I start working or once I feel hungry. That way I know for sure I will eat it.
It’s just a few changes, but I am hoping it will inspire more. And, I love the feeling of accomplishing my goals.
I’m also inviting all of my readers to participate in BistroMD’s Choose Health Challenge.
