Planning a date? Here are this weekend's spots

Chicago2.jpg

Summer has fallen upon us in Chicago (trust me I have the sunburn to prove it). Plus, for most of us, this weekend is a three day weekend which of course means you get a whole extra day/night to have a date. So plan one this weekend and check out some of these spots.

Fighting Neverland

Donny's Skybox Theatre

1608 N. Wells St.

Saturdays at 11:59 p.m. (ends June 19)

Who doesn't love a little performance about people that are struggling to grow up? Cost is $10; $8 for students

Randolph Street Market Festival

Randolph and Ada Streets

May 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

May 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

June 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Check out this European-style indoor/outdoor fair with antiques, vintage collectibles and indie designer apparel from more than 200 dealers. Also mini-markets with vinyl recordings, global goods and fancy foods such as chocolates, cakes and spices. Cost is $8-$10 or  for $100 you can get season passes

If it's the start of summer, why not check out this popular street party featuring national, regional and local bands, plus food, beer, arts and crafts. The cost is just a $5 donation.

Here is the schedule:

Sharks with Knives

Gorilla Tango Theatre

1919 N. Milwaukee Ave.

May 29 at 6 p.m.

We've established that I am all over horror movies so why not combine a little horror and a little theater? Well here you can get both as Eek! Theatre Company performs a horror-themed sketch revue. Cost is $10.

The Sunday Night Sex Show

The Burlington

3425 W. Fullerton Ave.

Every last Sunday of the month from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

How about a little sex on the first date (no, not really).  Here you can check out humorous, sex-themed readings by local writers Rachel Collins, Byron Flitsch, Dakota Sexton and others. Also includes trivia games and prizes. The bonus here is that there is no cover and there is also a cash bar.

Swing on Sundays

May I Have This Dance

5246 N. Elston Ave., 2nd floor

Sundays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Again, I am a huge fan of classes on dates (it's always been a fun thing to me). Here you can learn the hustle (6 p.m.) and West Coast swing (6:30 p.m.), followed by an open dance session (7 p.m.- 9 p.m.) with contemporary music. And bonus is, it won't clow your budget, cost is $5-$10
